Here are some tips for eating fish:

* Do not eat shark, swordfish, king mackerel or tilefish (also called golden or white snapper) because they contain high levels of mercury.
Do not eat 12 ounces (2 average meals) a week from a variety ofFish and shellfish that are lower in mercury. Five commonly eaten fish low mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock and catfish. Fish sticks and fast-food sandwiches are usually of low-mercury fish, they are usually safe to eat.
* Do not eat more than 6 ounces per week of canned white (white) tuna steaks, or because more mercury than canned light tuna. Eat oysters and clams, may increase your risk of contracting harmful bacteria or viruses. Avoid eating or make sure they cook for at least 4 to 6 minutes (can) be done with all seafood.
* Check local instructions concerning the safety of fish in lakes, rivers and coasts. If no information is available, eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) per week of fish caught in local waters, but they do not eat fish that week.
